Boldly activating the intersection of Somme Street and 620 Market Street, across from Riverbank Park, World Cup Corner stands as a living symbol of rebirth, unity, and creativity in Newark. Once known as one of the city’s most dangerous intersections, this corner is now transforming through a beautification and cultural activation led by Ira Kherki Kaifa (Unicorn151) of Illtown Philanthropists, in collaboration with Torch Fuego and Knod the Artist. Together, they are turning concrete into canvas, using art, community, and sport as tools of healing and inspiration. The World Cup Corner project celebrates Newark’s resilience, bringing color, energy, and pride to a space that now welcomes families, children, and visitors to connect and create memories.

World Cup Corner highlights major cultural themes that are impactful to New Jersey's global influence: Music, Film, Sports and Community. With Newark's recent approval for a Historical Marker honoring Jersey Club Music, World Cup Corner will be an integral location of this Heritage Trail, telling the story of current worldwide influence, leading to the World Cup Games. Images depicting Newark's current boom in the film industry illustrates a forgotten sentiment that New Jersey was the original Hollywood and is redefining it's role as the Mecca of cinema. This story is told through the medium of raw street art.

This movement is more than just a local revival, it’s a global celebration rooted in Newark soil. Inspired by the unity of the FIFA 2026 World Cup, World Cup Corner uses the spirit of the world’s game as a catapult for positive change. Through murals, music, and community engagement, this activation shines a light on the beauty, culture, and potential of Newark. It’s a testament to what happens when artists and neighbors come together: a once-feared corner now pulses with life, love, and shared purpose a vibrant symbol of what Newark truly represents.

In 2025, the State of New Jersey approved a historical marker at Branch Brook Park Roller Skating Rink in Newark, NJ, officially recognizing the rink as the creative birthplace and cultural nucleus of Jersey Club Music. Honoring artists DJ Tamiel and Unicorn151.

The second, at 620 Market Street, celebrates World Cup Corner, a gathering space that honors culture, unity, and resilience, while recognizing Jersey Club and the artists who carried its rhythm forward, including Unicorn 151, one of the genre’s pioneering figures.
